All About You and Your Wellness – Mind, Body, and Spirit

Is your life today  fast-paced, competitive, and stressful?

Our technology has reached a point of 100% computerization and the web, the “World Wide Web” technology and has become the center point of our personal, social, and business aspects of our life.

I quote Stephen Covey here, in his book, the 8th Habit:

“This fervid desire for the Web bespeaks a longing so intense that it can only be understood as spiritual. A longing indicates something is missing in our lives.  What is missing is the sound of human voice. The spiritual lure of the Web is the promise of the return of the voice.”

The information explosion bombards and pervades our reality and we are either the casualties or the willing participants.  In addition, we are running from one appointment to next, from Facebook to Twitter, and from Linkedin to Active Rain and from Aerobics classes to our childrens sports practice, then dry cleaning to food shopping.

So we join the millions of Facebook members and be-friend up to 5,000 members desiring to be heard awaiting a voice at the end of the communication thread. We desire to be recognized and to be valued in whatever voice we are peddling or connecting to friends and relatives sharing the minutest part of our lives and the important part of our lives, alike.

The increased use of computers to do our work, befriending and sharing our voices, requires us to be in front of our computers many hours in a day.

The socialization of America on the World Wide Web has it’s positive influence and I am not minimizing its importance to our personal, social, and business life.  It is now a big part of our lives.

We Fbooked, we Tweet, we follow, we Linkedin, we join the circles of friends on Google+, we Blog, we subscribe to RSS feeds, and that is all fine so long as we are able to find balance in our existence on all levels of our life.  If you are able to pull away far enough from your computer screen turn around and have a face-to-face interaction and have a personal relationships with those you love, then I congratulate you.

I remember reading a book by an Author, she wrote that she went “offline” for one year, and she was able to complete and publish 3 books within less than a year.

We are all cooperative and willing components, casualty or not. As for the voice of women, we are dedicated, hardworking, and loyal workers and because of that, women in our modern society play an integral role in our community and our economy.  We dominate, representing a larger part of the economy, we are the larger participants of the workforce.

We get up to fix breakfast for our children, get them on to the school bus on time, we take them to their sports practice, to their orthodontist appointments, we report to work, we bear the children. We are homemakers, workers, lovers, care givers, mother, parent, friend, and soul mates.

What happens if women don’t show up for work?  What happens if we can’t get out of bed, too tired and too stressed out to show up for life that all we can do is move our fingers to text and to update our pages on the Web, utilizing the tiny screen of our HTC or Android cell phones or the bigger screen of our tablets or Ipads? The point is when our mind is quiet, you feel that empty space, a longing, you can’t quite figure it out, but it is there, a quiet gnawing, unfulfilled. I believe that the whole structure of our society, our economy, and our family is greatly threatened when men and women don’t show up for life. We are too tired to think straight because we have to do it all over again the next new day.  I am commenting and sharing this with you only to bring your awareness to take care of yourself on the forefront just because you exist and you live in this wonderful perfect body that needs love and attention too.

How do we women contribute on a higher level quality of existence for ourselves, our family, our community, and our society and nation in our unique role? How are we to express our voice when we cannot even find time to reconnect and rejuvenate? And what role do our men fit into our lives?  Should they experience the spiritual journey with us? We say, Yes!

Join us for a renewal of purpose and spiritual alignment, for rest and relaxation, for meditation and Yoga, to quiet the mind, to rejoice, and for the celebration of life.  Our retreat allows men and women together to a journey of discovery, of renewal and rejuvenation, and your job is to dedicate your lives to that personal calling and purpose. Together, we, men and women, can create a life of love, harmony, and peace.

Our retreat does not offer a spiritual lure, we offer a spiritual journey to discover one’s own true Self; spiritual, whole and perfect, vibrant health, abundant and prosperous, loving and beloved, harmonious, energetic and beautiful, harmonious, at peace and so very, very happy. This is possible, this is attainable, this is life, this is bliss. This is Joy!

If you desire a more energetic life and move with confidence and comfort throughout your day and spend a higher quality of interaction with your family, without the expense of letting go of your alignment to your true purpose and spirituality, then this is the retreat you have been waiting for. This is your opportunity to go “offline” and take the time to focus on you, your spiritual life, your health and happiness. If your goal is to feel good and look good in your outer clothing, or move with ease in your flexible body, or improve your posture, have a strong “core”, face your day energetically, and complete any task and challenges that come your way with confidence and total control, then this is the retreat you’ve been waiting for. You do not need to sacrifice and let go of balance and happiness in your life. You have the power to bring about the outcome you desire, the outcome of vibrant health, spiritual and loving relationships, a beautiful and confident body, then this is the retreat you have been looking for.

Is World Peace Attainable?

Is World Peace Attainable?

In the midst of chaos is an underlying orderliness.  Built in each acorn is an oak tree waiting to become a magnificent oak tree.  Built in each of us is a desire to live out our purpose why we are here and that is to contribute to the survival of mankind, and to be happy, to live life of peace, bliss, and joy. This is my truth.

How do we tap this kind of life?

The answer is through agreement. Through a collective consciousness that our birthright is to live a life of purpose contributing to the good of the many. That we need not earn love for ourselves and that peace and joy is our true nature.  And to love ourselves is to find that alignment with our true nature.  If you are the kind of person who has discovered the meaning of your existence then this is for you.  If you are the kind of person who is searching for the meaning of existence then this is for you.  If you are the kind of person who desires a life of peace, bliss, and joy, then this is for you.  If you believe that world peace is attainable then this is for you.

I believe that if I could touch one life today to experience inner peace through harmonious alignment of mind and body then I have the opportunity to contribute to world peace.  One person sharing this inner peace would share it to another and to another and have the exponential effect on thousands of people all over the world experiencing inner peace.

I believe world peace is attainable.

I believe to attain world peace we must carry inner peace within each of us.

I believe inner peace and world peace are two sides of the same coin.

I believe all of us want inner peace because we have a desire to be happy and live a blissful and joyful life for us and for our future generations.

I believe all of us believe it is attainable. The question is – how is this possible?

It is very easy you know.

I practice Yoga daily and I have attained inner peace.  Many people have experience inner peace through the practice of Yoga and Transcendental Meditation.

Inner peace that is real, that you can feel and experience, that you can share and give to someone.

You can only give what you have and this gift of peace is very real. It is tangible.

To attain this world peace with each one of us carrying inner peace within us, I provide and teach free outdoor Yoga classes for everyone in different locations in the DC Metro areas so that you may experience this inner peace.  Free introductory Transcendental Meditation (TM) classes are available to you.  For more information, please email me at followyogadc@gmail.com or go to my website www.followyoga.com and signup for my newsletter.  You will be in our mailing list via email for free classes and other special events.

Experience this inner peace and feel the bliss and joy of harmonious mind and body alignment.

Benefits of Yoga

Today before my Yoga class, one of the manager of the club approach me and asked me what I do.  I responded that I am one of their  instructor.  He asked what classes I teach.  I said  I teach kickboxing, pilates, yoga, weight training and indoor cycling.  He asked what kind of kickboxing I do and I said I teach kickboxing similar to hi/lo aerobics and I add a little bit of dance aerobics to it.  I learned kickboxing from a retired coach of our US Olympic boxing team so I can teach close to what a kickboxing would look like in reality plus I add a dance component to it, so it is a lot of fun.

He asked,  “what about yoga, you think i could do it?”

I responded, “oh yes, everyone could do it.”

“Could I get flexible?” he asked.

I looked at him, he is muscular, very fit, he looked like he does heavy weight lifting, and I responded, “for you it is most important you do yoga because you develop balance, alignment, and flexibility. You will feel at ease with your body and yoga helps prevent injury because you develop strength on both sides of the body.”

He seemed pleased with what he heard and he promised he would come by and take my yoga class next time.

My comments:

The benefits of yoga are many.  The benefits that we do not see from the outside are the improvements of yoga in bodily functions such as improved energy, blood circulation, digestion, and elimination.  Our internal organs are toned as we go through the poses because of rich oxygenated blood are increased inside our body which then benefit our nervous system.  How important are these to our existence, my answer is very important.  This is the body we chose to live in in this time space reality and the only body we have in this lifetime, so why not care for it where it will benefit you the most on this planet.  Do Yoga and experience vibrant health, it’s that easy you know.

Word Clearing:

Vibrant – pulsating with life, vigor, or activity.

Nervous System – below is a partial list of our nervous system, I chose what is most benefited from practicing Yoga and the systems that we are very familiar with

system - a set or series of interconnected or interdependent parts or entities (objects, organs, or organisms) that act together in a common purpose or produce results impossible by action of one alone.

autonomic nervous system  the portion of the nervous system concerned with regulation of activity of cardiac muscle, smooth muscle, and glands, usually restricted to the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

cardiovascular system  the heart and blood vessels, by which blood is pumped and circulated through the body.

circulatory system  channels through which nutrient fluids of the body flow; often restricted to the vessels conveying blood.

digestive system  the organs concerned with ingestion, digestion, and absorption of food or nutritional elements.
endocrine system  the glands and other structures that elaborate and secrete hormones that are released directly into the circulatory system, influencing metabolism and other body processes; included are the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands, pineal body, gonads, pancreas, and paraganglia.

Everything is energy

I was speaking with one of my students after our Yoga class and he was commenting that he could not hear me and I told him that the microphone was working and I could hear me able to project.  I told him to set up his mat closer to me at the next yoga class so he could see me, and most importantly he could feel my energy and that hearing is just another way to learn.  We are aware of  5 senses and there are others way to learn and experience. I want him to be aware of learning from an energy perspective.  After talking with him, here is what he said:

I wish I learned about this approach you are teaching me earlier in my life, I would not have had my surgery”.
