All About You and Your Wellness – Mind, Body, and Spirit
Is your life today fast-paced, competitive, and stressful?
Our technology has reached a point of 100% computerization and the web, the “World Wide Web” technology and has become the center point of our personal, social, and business aspects of our life.
I quote Stephen Covey here, in his book, the 8th Habit:
“This fervid desire for the Web bespeaks a longing so intense that it can only be understood as spiritual. A longing indicates something is missing in our lives. What is missing is the sound of human voice. The spiritual lure of the Web is the promise of the return of the voice.”
The information explosion bombards and pervades our reality and we are either the casualties or the willing participants. In addition, we are running from one appointment to next, from Facebook to Twitter, and from Linkedin to Active Rain and from Aerobics classes to our childrens sports practice, then dry cleaning to food shopping.
So we join the millions of Facebook members and be-friend up to 5,000 members desiring to be heard awaiting a voice at the end of the communication thread. We desire to be recognized and to be valued in whatever voice we are peddling or connecting to friends and relatives sharing the minutest part of our lives and the important part of our lives, alike.
The increased use of computers to do our work, befriending and sharing our voices, requires us to be in front of our computers many hours in a day.
The socialization of America on the World Wide Web has it’s positive influence and I am not minimizing its importance to our personal, social, and business life. It is now a big part of our lives.
We Fbooked, we Tweet, we follow, we Linkedin, we join the circles of friends on Google+, we Blog, we subscribe to RSS feeds, and that is all fine so long as we are able to find balance in our existence on all levels of our life. If you are able to pull away far enough from your computer screen turn around and have a face-to-face interaction and have a personal relationships with those you love, then I congratulate you.
I remember reading a book by an Author, she wrote that she went “offline” for one year, and she was able to complete and publish 3 books within less than a year.
We are all cooperative and willing components, casualty or not. As for the voice of women, we are dedicated, hardworking, and loyal workers and because of that, women in our modern society play an integral role in our community and our economy. We dominate, representing a larger part of the economy, we are the larger participants of the workforce.
We get up to fix breakfast for our children, get them on to the school bus on time, we take them to their sports practice, to their orthodontist appointments, we report to work, we bear the children. We are homemakers, workers, lovers, care givers, mother, parent, friend, and soul mates.
What happens if women don’t show up for work? What happens if we can’t get out of bed, too tired and too stressed out to show up for life that all we can do is move our fingers to text and to update our pages on the Web, utilizing the tiny screen of our HTC or Android cell phones or the bigger screen of our tablets or Ipads? The point is when our mind is quiet, you feel that empty space, a longing, you can’t quite figure it out, but it is there, a quiet gnawing, unfulfilled. I believe that the whole structure of our society, our economy, and our family is greatly threatened when men and women don’t show up for life. We are too tired to think straight because we have to do it all over again the next new day. I am commenting and sharing this with you only to bring your awareness to take care of yourself on the forefront just because you exist and you live in this wonderful perfect body that needs love and attention too.
How do we women contribute on a higher level quality of existence for ourselves, our family, our community, and our society and nation in our unique role? How are we to express our voice when we cannot even find time to reconnect and rejuvenate? And what role do our men fit into our lives? Should they experience the spiritual journey with us? We say, Yes!
Join us for a renewal of purpose and spiritual alignment, for rest and relaxation, for meditation and Yoga, to quiet the mind, to rejoice, and for the celebration of life.
